Today we had our first day off since we've arrived - and it was great. We had the opportunity to see some of the main tourist areas and to just reflect on the last few weeks.
We visited Teul Sleng Prison. It was a horrific place. However, it gave us a greater level of insight into the history of the country.
We then went to a cosy little cafe for lunch and, afterwards, we walked to the Silver Pagoda in time to see the monks returning from their morning collections.
We walked along the riverfront - the first time we'd seen it in daylight. A number of the local could be seen jumping into, or washing in, it's muddied waters.
In the evening we spent time with friends at the Elim church. Little Janti was let out of hospital today. John and Ann, on the advice of the doctors, decided that it'd be too dangerous to let the child return to the conditions in its village. They are looking after the baby until it is strong enough to get its operation. It will then return to its parents.
