This morning I accompanied a group of children from CfC to a gymnastics class organised by a local NGO. It was encouraging to see children being given opportunities like this for exercise and the development of their skills.
On the way home, I went to the market with one of the older girls to buy food for today's lunch. Walking down a street that was somewhat off the beaten track, I spotted something I had never seen before. A man was standing with a meat cleaver behind a table butchering some meat. On the table lay the carcass of Lassie (I'm not sure that it was the original!); it's head having just been removed from its trunk. It was something of a shock for my Norn Irish eyes! I wondered whether I should share this on the blog. I feared, perhaps, that the animal lovers among the audience might find my account distasteful. However, before I left, I assured family and friends that we would provide full and frank disclosure of all our activities. All for now!
P.s. We didn't buy any!
