Well, today has been a busy day. We started the day at one of the team's projects. This project is a home and drop-in centre for slum children. They are very short staffed, but doing a tremendous work providing education and support for some of Phnom Penh's poorest children.
We went from there to our language class. We both have made it to the end of chapter one, but we have a fair bit of learning to do over the weekend to consolidate our progress. It's funny filling in dot-to-dot letter sheets!
Then we grabbed a bite to eat, went and got some passport photos taken (you need passport photos here in order to do most things!! - get a driver's license, get a mobile phone, organise bills for your house, get a bank account...). We went to get our pictures after a hot walk, so they were no glamour shots!
Next, we organised the printing of leaflets that Jill has designed to advertise Cafe Eden; this is the cafe connected with CfC. This was quite a lengthy procedure requiring some good negotiation skills. Our language didn't allow for that really, but we did our best and are due to pick the leaflets up tomorrow for a handout in the tourist area.
After that we went to see a final team project; a shelter for students studying in Phnom Penh. Phow! What a day! Good, but busy. Planning for a quiet night... but there aren't too many of those here!
