Water filters, towels, library books, mango trees, and tarpaulins have all been delivered already and tomorrow we expect to be inundated with footballs, volleyballs, badminton sets, exercise books, pens, colouring pencils, whiteboards, bicycles and chickens!
All of these will be distributed when the village leaders come to Phnom Penh in the first week of April.
Regular blog readers will remember some of the titles of the library books bought last year.
This year we can report some similarly intriguing titles including:
- The rose that grows on cow dung
- The boss of peanut
- Rabbit police combat drug trafficking (I guess Miami Vice meets Watership Down)
We have been able to put a library of 25 books into 20 more villages this year. This is a very significant investment in the lives of young people in rural Cambodia. Having books available gives them an incentive to learn to read, which will opens many more doors for them in the future.
Thanks to everyone who contributed. There will be more pictures published here as the gifts are distributed.
