The street outside our house is prone to flooding every so often. This is only a problem when it rains if you have to walk home, rather than taking transport. When it floods, it isn't just water we have to make our way through!
So, in an effort to rectify this, the local council has decided to dig a trench up the side of the road and connect the sewer onto a main sewer line.
This evening they have made it up the road as far as our house. They had just opened up the sewer and finished digging the trench when it was clocking off time. So the workmen have cleared off home with this stinking sewer opened up right outside our gate.
I must make sure that I am wide awake when leaving the house tomorrow or it could start off very, very badly!
I can't be too critical though. I do have a certain amount of respect/sympathy for the workers. Where else would workmen dig sewers wearing flip flops with absolutely no protective gear?
